Climate Change and Conflict

Catastrophic flooding, crop failure, water scarcity: The effects of climate change have become a threat to all people, not only those in the Global South. At the IFSH, our researchers study the security policy implications of climate change, such as: How do the consequences of global warming affect security and peace worldwide? How and with what methods is knowledge about future environmental risks produced and disseminated?

On Monday, October 14, 2024, the photo exhibition ‘Climate No Future’ closed its doors. More than 200 interested residents, activists, and scientists visited the Pop-Up Art Space at Grindelallee to get a glimpse of climate activists’ future visions and visual language. IFSH researcher Dr. Delf Rothe designed the exhibition in collaboration with Dr. David Shim from the University of Groningen and the agency Non-Fiction Photo as part of their binational research project SECIMA. They aimed to make the urgent issues of the climate crisis visible through the perspectives of leading climate movements, while also stimulating discussions about possible solutions.
