The Great Leap? China’s Ballistic Missile Program. A Technical Report.
Research Report #013
The new IFSH Research Report serves as a reference work on the current state of China’s missile program, with a special focus on ballistic missiles. The author, Dr. Markus Schiller, outlines the most significant technological advancements in this missile category since the 1950s and sketches the structural evolution of China’s state-linked missile industry.
The report was developed through the analysis of publicly accessible sources and a technical evaluation of the data obtained. This allowed the author to assess the current state of China’s missile forces in terms of their operational systems, troop strength, and deployment locations.
It becomes evident that China has intensified its efforts: in recent years, the country has significantly increased investments in missile research, development, and production. This is indicated by a notable rise in medium- and long-range systems and a comprehensive modernization of its existing missile arsenal.
This Research Report aims to enhance understanding of the technical background, potential, and objectives of China’s missile program to better evaluate its possible implications for the international community and derive potential courses of action.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
